Marietta GA, Known As One of The County’s Oldest Towns

The city of Marietta was established in 1834 and is located along the backdrops of the Chattahoochee River and the Kennesaw Mountains, approximately 18 miles northwest out of Atlanta. It is one of the wealthiest cities in the area regarding natural resources. Citizens here also enjoy one of the most affordable real estate properties.

As the county seat of Cobb County, Marietta has more than 300,000 residents here. It also attracts a high number of tourists each year thanks to its annual events, historical monuments, and evident Southern charm.

Though it still manages to maintain its small-town appeal, the city of Marietta has continued to develop over the past 20 years. Today it resembles other large metropolitan areas, with an eclectic mixture of restaurants, nightspots, and even a Broadway-like theatre.

The National Civic League deemed Marietta as one of the ten best communities in the nation, giving it the All-America City title in 2006, while CNNMoney added it to their top 25 places to retire in the United States list. Marietta also enjoys quite a bit of economic growth, being the home of over one hundred Fortune 500 companies, particularly in the aeronautics industry.
