Standing on a tradition of community and independence

Dallas’s mission statement is, “Standing on a tradition of community, independence, and growth the city of Dallas renews its commitment to prosperity of its residents and business owners.” Dallas is a vibrant yet quaint and friendly town known for its southern hospitality. Dallas was named after the Vice-President of the United States, George Mifflin Dallas who served under President James Knox Polk. This town wasn’t originally on the map until it became the site of several battles during the Atlanta Campaign of the American Civil War. In 1964 it was home to 3 battles: The Battle of New Hope Church, The Battle of Pickett’s Mill, and the Battle of Dallas. You can visit the Pickett’s Mill Battlefield state historic site to learn more about this battle and Dallas’s role in the war. You can also tour the Paulding county historical society and museum.

Many cyclists travel to Dallas to make it their starting point to ride the Silver Comet Trail, a rails-to-trail paved path that takes cyclists all the way to the Alabama state line in one direction, and to Atlanta in the other. Outdoor enthusiasts also love to hike to High Shoals Falls. Locals and visitors alike frequent the Dallas Theater for entertainment including music, comedy, plays, and local dance productions. The Paulding Fine Arts Center hosts a fall festival every year with art, food trucks, and music. Locals also enjoy gathering at the Dallas Farmers market every Saturday from 8-12 pm, April- December.
